I'm gutted, Leo - [ Natalie murmurs, watching the Big House come into view. ] - that the thought of me shirtless doesn't have you, like, dying from, you know, frustration.
[ When they eventually enter the meeting, hand in hand, Natalie at least has the decency to look sheepish and avoid everyone's gaze, simply shuffling to a seat with Leo in tow. ]
[ He uses dumb comments like this to cover up his irritation a lot. Piper gives him a sidelong glance, but he avoids her gaze. They are definitely not talking about that IM. Ever. Any acknowledgement that it even happened should be banished to the deepest parts of Tartarus. ]
[ On Natalie's side, Reyna and Annabeth look less than pleased, though there's a hint of amusement in the way Annabeth gives them both a side glance. She lowers her head and tries to pay attention to the meeting, lifting her free hand only to levitate the bowl of popcorn towards her.
Under the table, she holds Leo's hand like promised, tapping her thumb against his. 'H i L e o.' ]
[ And of course, the meeting is off to the boring start Leo expected. He's so glad he taught Natalie how to use Morse code. Trying to suppress a smile (and failing), he taps back The countdown begins, and flicks his eyes over to Percy. Jackson's looking at them with a knowing grin, and Leo can tell he's dying to say something. ]
[ Natalie lifts her eyebrows as if to challenge Percy from afar, her jaw set. She replies, 'He's literally about to burst.' It's good to keep her hand active otherwise she might burst herself for various other reasons. ]
[ Percy, without any more hesitation, bursts out, "Put out any fires recently, Nat?" which had been somewhat relevant to the conversation at hand regarding actually setting monsters on fire, if he hadn't grinned so ridiculously after it.
Natalie is caught between a grimace and a grin, releasing Leo's hand to cover her face to try not to burst out laughing. ]
[ How Natalie does it is beyond him, but Leo has no such restraint. Despite how annoyingly true it is (even if he hadn't set anything on fire, after all), he burst out laughing, leaning back to sit with his head on the back of the couch and his hand over his eyes. He only stays that way for a moment, though, determined to see it when Nat hexes him, and he just looks at Percy with a grin as he tries to stifle more laughter.
Everyone else at the meeting is not so amused. Reyna, in fact, looks like she might be ready to put a spear through one of them. He just hopes the target is Percy, because technically Leo and Nat were just late. Water Boy provided the distraction. ]
[ Natalie has her face buried in her hands, leaning forward with her head against her knees, shoulder shaking from the effort of not laughing. Without warning, Percy's chair is suddenly missing a leg. Of course he's quick enough to catch himself with a yelp before he hits the fall, but that's satisfying enough for Natalie.
There are only innocent people sitting on the couch, honest. She pulls her lips over her teeth, squeezing her eyes shut until she's at least calmed her facial expression. ]
[ And that, of course, only makes Leo laugh harder. He's not helping with their innocent act, is he?
Anyway, as he finally manages to get his amusement under control and clears his throat, they were actually talking about fire. ]
If anyone put out the fire, it was Piper.
[ And... it was. She'd buried the flaming monsters in hams and birthday cake and fruit, and it was the most awful thing combination of odors he'd ever smelled. And the comment makes for an great double entendre. Win-win. ]
[ Natalie chokes back a snarky comment about wearing it to keep him away from her before meetings like this but they've already done enough damage and she doesn't want to be chased out of the rec room. ]
Great. [ She says as if to end that conversation because she mostly doesn't want to upset Reyna, who clearly would rather be training outside than listening to these two. ]
[ The rest of the meeting goes just as uneventfully as he'd expected, with only a few ridiculous comments thrown in here or there when he feels it necessary (and let's face it; it's almost always necessary). And Percy's gone and conjured up another chair from somewhere, effectively ruining their prank. He still sends the two of them amused glances from time to time, though.
Bored, Leo finds Natalie's hand again, impatiently tapping Is it over yet? ]
She gives his hand a warm squeeze, absently scratching his palm out of affection. She's hardly said anything over the past forty minutes or so because her mind keeps wandering off to ... other topics. Other obvious topics. Her free hand has been busy, fiddling with her hair, twisting curls around her fingers, picking lint off her leggings, etc.
She sighs and hardly notices when the others begin to stand up. ]
[ Leo is more than ready when the time comes, jumping to his feet. Everyone here knows he gets restless at these things... just this time, he's got a very different reason for it than severe ADHD, and the looks Percy and Annabeth (and gods of Olympus, even Piper) are giving him, they know exactly what it is and find it wildly amusing.
From his point of view, it's not so funny. New goal: get out of here before Water Boy can make another stupid comment. He tugs on Nat's hand to pull her up, hoping she'll get the message. ]

Seriously, don't, you'll burn the house down.

I'm not gonna burn the house down.

The tug on her arm gets her attention and she stands, mumbling something in agreement to Chiron about ... something, nodding her head a few times. ]
Well. Yeah. I'll - yeah, we'll see you later. [ Natalie manages to offer some intelligent parting words before she's tugged out the door. ]

[ She'll find some way to make that task go faster, conjure something to pull them out faster. In the meantime, they have business to tend to. ]
Whatever.

This is why they should've given us an hour. [ A beat. ] But the look on Percy's face was definitely worth it.
