Kira there's someone knocking on your window. There's a little blonde thing kinda perched on the sill on the outside. Glasses, pastel leather jacket, generally there's a bubblegum feeling when you look at her. Hot pink jeans do nothing to dissuade this feeing either. Nor does the rather wicked little smile she has on her face as she waves through the glass.
Someone is in the middle of doing her math homework when she hears the knock, and looks up, startled. Her room is on the second floor, but really, Kira shouldn’t be surprised, considering that she spends her days with a werewolf and his pack of motley supernatural beings. Scott, she knows, could climb to her window without a problem, she knows.
But it isn’t Scott who’s come to see her, she realizes as she moves to the window, pulling it open. “Maya?” Her eyes glance at the other girl’s clothes - her own are simple by comparison - just a black shirt and shorts with her Avengers leggings underneath. And that smile… What does she have planned? “What’s up?”
"Hey, good, you're not doing anything interesting? Want to find something more fun to do?" Maya just because you've basically given up on school doesn't mean everyone else has. She swung her legs in and hopped down off the ledge, then shivered. There it was, that fun reaction she had to supernatural creatures some part of her labeled threatening.
"I figured we should hang out a bit more. See if I can, you know, get used to you." Maya was not stepping any further into the house. She couldn't exactly sense the location of Kira's mom, but she'd rather not find out by fully feathering right now. The ones on her back were uncomfortable enough. Still, she was glad Kira wasn't out having a life or anything.
Maya is nothing if not direct, Kira's learned, and she casts a dubious look at her math homework before turning back with a curious expression. "What do you have in mind?"
The reaction is still strange to her; Kira, even as a kitsune, has never really thought herself dangerous. Sure, she can wield a katana or a nunchaku with no problem, and she can absorb or generate electricity without even blinking an eye, but dangerous? She almost wants to apologize for setting off Maya's senses, but instead she waits for an answer.
"There's a rave I found out about tonight?" Maya asked, just a bit hopeful. Smiling and trying to look cute and irresistible. She isn't going so far as to try and charm Kira into it, as that would be rude, and trying to trick a trickster seems a bit off... Oh and she's straight, at least she's super into Scott.
"I thought about going alone, but it'd be more fun to have someone to go with and talk to? The setting should be relaxed enough I might get used to the whole kitsune thing," of course, there were other aspects to do with this, but she figuredhoped Kira wouldn't ask. "Plus if I accidentally use my powers having someone not into me might help keep me out of trouble."
A rave... The only one she'd ever been to was the one Scott had taken her to, before Kira even knew what she was. That was the day she'd first seen the oni, and Scott as a werewolf. It had scared her at first, but she thought - she hoped - that something like that was only a one-time experience.
Nodding, she asked, "What about Stiles?" And Scott, she wanted to ask. She knew that Maya and Stiles were... close, and that Stiles was affected by her song.
Maya was silent for a few long moments, "Stiles kicked me out, I wasn't... helping his research into stuff." Which was to say, exactly, that Maya wanted to talk Stiles into going to the rave her way, and he turned her down. Which, admittedly, he was doing something important and Maya was generally not useful for research. At best she tried to research, and started humming to herself while she read.
"But he's also not immune to my powers, so not totally useful when I get in trouble in public. So you in!? It'll be fun, at the very least I promise more interesting than homework."
It took a moment for it register, and when it did, Kira's mouth formed a small O. She forgot about Maya's powers sometimes, and the effects they could have on a guy. She almost felt sorry for Stiles.
"Oh." She smiled and rose from her chair. "Yeah, I'm totally in! Where is it?"
"On the plus side, at least I don't have to deal with furniture?" Maya said it as she saw Kira 'got it,' then grinned at her own little joke. The cross sirens have with their powers. Sure, she's never had to buy food for the past... ever, but it has some complications.
"There's a warehouse out... wait, this is the one that had the maenads issues. Anyway, there in like half an hour?" She lit up at the fact she got Kira to do it, and without her powers. Which... well, wasn't a surprise, all Scott things considered. "...You're going to change right?"
Her smile faltered, and Kira looked down at her own clothes quizzically, as if only realizing in that moment what she was wearing. "What's wrong with it?"
The last time she'd gone to a rave, that one in Derek's loft, she'd basically been wearing sweatpants. This outfit, such as it was, was an improvement. As far as Kira knew, though, it would only be her and Maya going from among their friends. She wasn't looking to impress anyone - not really.
Not unless their name was Scott McCall, but that was a different thing entirely.
"Don't you want to go out looking like you, you know, care? I don't know about you, but I get a buzz when I look in the mirror and I look like one of the girls I used to be super jealous of when I was younger." Maya took a few steps into the room, tentative and trying not to do anything like feather out. She wanted to keep her bra on when she went to the rave, it sent... signals, to go without. She did honestly believe Kira would have more fun dressed a bit more... fun, than she was.
"I dunno, an outfit that makes you feel... strong," Maya had made it to Kira's closet and was glancing through it when a thought hit her. "Who knows, maybe the world will end up in danger and Scott will need you."
Well, at the part about there being danger (and Scott needing her, don't freak out, Kira, keep cool) could happen. Here in Beacon Hills, it generally did when you were least expecting it, and who really expects that if they're going to a rave?
Not that Kira had a good track record with raves, having only been to the one. She'd been having fun with Scott until the oni had appeared.
"I guess I could change," she relented, eyeing one of the skirts she had hanging in the closet. She's not the most fashionable, especially compared to Lydia, but she can definitely manage something cute and fun to wear out.
Maya wasn't exactly fashion forward, but she was confident in her own skin and her clothes. Well, she was now, she had issues when she was younger. But she's filled out and become a seductive hypnotic monster which makes it a lot easier to carry yourself with confidence. And without fur issues.
"Good, put on your best dancing shoes and let's go," Maya headed back for the window, "I'll meet you outside. I... don't want to deal with your mother." Which is to say 900 year old fox monsters terrify her in ways she does not want to deal with. And jumping out windows is easier.
"I don't think I want to deal with her right now either," Kira admitted. She watched Maya leave before heading to the closet, rapidly sifting through her clothes and tossing a few choice articles onto the bed. Her Avengers leggings were switched out for a classic black under the short black skirt she'd been looking at before. A bright purple tank went on under a light gray asymmetrical shirt, and a pair of lace-up combat boots finished the look - just in case Maya was right, and the world ended up in danger.
With that, she considered the look complete. It was simple, but it felt cute enough for her to go out to have fun in, though she did stop to grab her light-up nunchaku to take with her before following Maya out the window, easily hopping down to the ground. "Ready," she announced cheerfully.
At least the agreement from Kira about not dealing with her mother seemed to relax her, Maya tried to stand just a bit closer when she dropped out the window. Circling once to take in the outfit, not dancing shoes technically, but for a rave and Beacon Hills no outfit really works without combat boots. "You clean up nicely, It'll be fun keeping count of how many guys want you tonight."
"Not that it's really much of an issue with whatever you wear, but you should definitely turn heads tonight," Maya shrugged and started to lead the way. It wasn't much of a walk there, but they were walking. Mostly because it was nice out... and Maya wasn't sure how her inner sirenness would deal with a car. Maybe if the whole pack Alpha thing Scott has going for him accepts her she'll be a bit less skittish. "So did it really only take bringing up Scott to get you to change?"
“Really?” The comment left a touch of pink in Kira’s cheek. She wondered if, maybe, it would really be true. She hasn’t had much experience in the dating department before - one or two guys, maybe - so she still found herself too awkward to imagine anyone really liking her. Having crushes, however, was nothing new to her, and she found herself hoping that maybe Scott would be there, and maybe he would be one of those guys…
Which brought her to the current question, as she fell into step at Maya’s side. The blush might have deepened just a shade.
“No,” Kira said sheepishly, curiously looking around them as they walked. “...Maybe? I don’t usually have any reason to dress up, that’s all.” But hearing Scott’s name... it did help, as embarrassed as she might be to admit it.
"I want you, well... if you liked girls, and I was more into girls, and you were less into Scott... the point is you look very nice," Maya babbled a bit. It might have to do with her trying to take her mind off the feathers sprouting from her back at the moment.
She shivered a little as Kira fell into step with her, "You dress up to make yourself feel good. I mean, sometimes it's because boys look at you, sometimes you just look in the mirror and can't believe that's you." Maya offered, she was young but she had been through the 'is this really me' bit of growing up already. She grew up fast, it kinda sucked. "But I can't tell if Scott is really sweet or really blind, to tell you the truth."
Upon hearing that, the pink in her cheeks deepened. “Um. Thanks?” It was an odd compliment, but she appreciated it nonetheless. It wasn’t often someone said things like that about her.
“I just don’t think about it that much, I guess,” she admitted, chewing on the inside her cheek. Keeping her gaze averted, Kira continued reluctantly, “He is sweet, but he’s not blind. He’s just… in love with Allison. That’s all.” And she could never compete with Allison - not that she’d really want to. If they were in love, they were in love, and that’s that. And she didn’t fault him for it; Allison was everything a girl could want to be. Beautiful, talented, strong - amazing in every way, really, though Kira couldn’t help wondering why they’d ever broken up.
"It'd help a little if you weren't all... anxious, about stuff. It's not helping you, you should just relax." Maya offered with only a hint of an eyeroll. She was used to being the odd one, but when you lose your passion, and your replacement is a fine and complete understanding of physical desires... yeah, poor trade. But you make the lemonade you can.
"...Where did you get that from? There's definitely a connection but..." Maya mused over it, she couldn't feel anything like love. Well, more intense desire to jump each others' bones, which for teenagers was a lot like love and Siren's could sense that. "I dunno, I don't think it's love anymore. It might've been. You should go for it.
Kira sighed. "I can't help it. I just... Scott's really cute, and I don't want to mess anything up, but I always kind of lose my cool around guys I like. I just sort of ramble... like I'm doing now," she said, immediately shutting her mouth and biting her lip in frustration. Besides, she still wasn't sure that Scott felt the same way, which was what made her so nervous in the first place. And then there's Allison...
"Have you seen the way they look at each other?" She sounded helpless and kind of pathetic, even to her own ears. Kira definitely had plenty of moments of being, well, not so clever, but even she couldn't miss such clear signals as the ones that Scott and Allison put off. "I don't want to upset them, I guess, if there's still something there. I don't even know if Scott likes me like that."
Maya decided to be nice and not point out she knew Kira finds Scott cute, because that means pointing out that every time she's in the same room with the pair of them she can feel Kira's desire to get all hot and heavy with the Alpha. "It's just us, by all means ramble. Get it out of your system. You might not have noticed, but Scott isn't exactly a master wordsmith either."
"Yes, and I've felt the way they look at each other, and neither of them wants to pin the other to a flat surface, rip each other's..." right, not pointing that out, "The point is I don't know love, but passion isn't quite there anymore." Maya sighed and turned a corner, she'd pretty much forgotten that feeling. The one where you don't know who is interested in your mind, interested in your ass, not even interested in you... just figures you for an easy target.
"And he likes you, not like... animalistic raw desire like Stiles has for Lydia. But I can feel his interest in you. So relax!"
She listened with a doubtful expression, mildly embarrassed about the whole stupid thing. And Maya was a siren, after all; Kira was still getting used to the idea that she could sense love or... or lust. The thought only embarrassed her further, especially with Maya talking about Scott and Allison pinning each other down and...
It made her stomach clench to think about it, so Kira decided not to, instead focusing on on the words being said.
"I guess," she said finally, hesitantly, "I could talk to him." But not tonight. Maybe not this week. But eventually, she could do that, if it's really like Maya said.
"Yes, talking to him is exactly what you should do. Not what you want to do, but what you should do," Maya smiled because, sadly, she enjoys people's uncomfortableness in a terrible way. Probably a coping skill when people sober up from her powers after... you know. Part of why she tried not to do that anymore.
Fortunately she didn't have to keep dancing around things, cause the warehouse was dead ahead. There was one guy on the door, and she could feel his pent up... everything, from all the way back here. "Oh thank God, we'll have no trouble getting in," Maya grinned, just a bit wickedly, and clung to Kira's arm acting bubbly and giggling.
Probably best the werepack wasn't here, their senses would get somewhat influenced by her little show of power she worked into that giggle. To make the bouncer very likely to say yes to just about anything they wanted.
"What do you mean, what I want to do?" Sure, she'd love to have Scott's arms around her, to wrap hers around his neck and just... kiss him for a while, but that... That wasn't going to happen anytime soon, and it certainly wasn't the way to start this... whatever they might have. Maybe if she went through with talking to him, though, if he didn't mind...
She was still thinking about it when they turned the corner, and the change in Maya was so sudden that Kira wasn't sure how to act at first. One look at the bouncer, though, and it was clear what she was after, and with a siren's powers, it should be easy to get. Settling for a smile, Kira tried to laugh along with the other girl as they approached the guy, though it sounded a little less enthusiastic.
"You're somewhere between hide from him forever and wanting him to wrap his arms around you, pin you to the wall, and kiss you for a few hours. You should talk to him about how you feel. Life is short, especially in Beacon Hills." Maya shivered at the all too true comment, but also another thing, "and stop thinking about making out with Scott. I can feel you thinking about it this close."
When they got to the bouncer Maya glanced over the edge of her glasses and bit her lip, "Can we, like... just go in? We'd appreciate it." Maya giggled with a little more power, as she hung loosely off Kira suggesting they might, in fact, be a couple. But not saying it outright.
He was thinking something dirty, but it didn't feel like it was about them... that he had someone else in mind. That was nice, a change of pace at least. He opened the ropes for them and just let the girls through to the annoyed complaints from some of the people, others were close enough that Maya's stunt with her powers snared them too.
Maya looked a little drunk just from walking into the rave. There was enough energy for her that it was a little intoxicating just being in the room with it. Some people on the dance floor were discretely doing scandalous things, and many others wanted to be. "Drinks first or dancing first?"
"You're the one that brought it up," Kira retorted, feeling a tiny bit distressed about the whole thing. Scott was Maya's entire reasoning for why she should even come to this thing; it's not her fault she'd started thinking that way after Maya mentioned how he felt about her (supposedly).
...God, she really hoped it was more than just "supposedly".
Trying to shake the thought, she kept on smiling for the bouncer, and called a vapid-sounding "Thanks!" over her shoulder when they were allowed in. Kira's eyes wandered over the crowd anxiously, wondering if anyone else they knew was out there. Stiles was supposed to be studying, but maybe Lydia? She lived for the party scene.
"Drinking," she decided, still a little hesitant. If they were going to dance, she needed a little help loosening up first. One look at Maya, however, and she wasn't so sure. "Hey, are you okay?"
"Just getting used to all the people. Alcohol plus teens does not lead to quiet studygroup thoughts." Maya would probably take her drink slow this time, probably meaning something that didn't taste quite as sweet as her usual tastes. This was not a jello shots kind of night because people really wanted to get laid at parties like this.
The only advantage the alcohol gave her was it'd make her less... feathery, under her outfit. She was still getting used to being around Kira and needed to relax in a less drowning in lusty emotions way. Maya smiled at the man working the bar set up for the event, "Scotch and Soda for me, and whatever she's having."
Maya scanned the bar for the right sort of person to end up footing the bill for their drinks. Her eyes stopped on a man. 30-something, wedding band mark, with a girl who would never give him the time of day if they weren't forced into a connection. Maya felt that it was a boss-secretary thing. Maya hummed quietly as she got up close, "You'll pay for our drinks, right?"
“A margarita,” Kira told him, sticking to the classics when she wasn’t sure what else to do. One of them should keep their head, and if Maya was going for scotch, it would have to be her instead. It was kind of amazing, though, watch the other girl work her siren magic on that guy. Kira had been wondering how they were supposed to pay for this. She probably should have guessed that would be it.
Once their drinks were on the bar, Kira took a careful sip of her margarita and sidled back up next to Maya, eyes scanning the crowd. So far, no one looked familiar.
“So, what now?” she asked hesitantly. Should they go dance, or finish their drinks first?
