*Magic could be infuriatingly obtuse. She wished for help sorting out her feelings over some dumb prince. It sent her here, she wasn't quite sure where she was, but the clothes made her think nowhere near Auradon.*
Next time I ask for help from a stupid lake, make sure to say I want local help. Not... Wherever I am.
Your first mistake was asking a lake for help, [ replied a dry voice. With one eyebrow raised, Meg looked like she couldn’t decide if she was amused, unimpressed, or both. ]
Trust me, I’ve been there, [ she continued, placing a hand on her hip. ] Lake and river gods are about the most useless ones out there - but don’t tell them that. And don’t even get me started on naiads.
What do you expect from something calling a wishing stone? [ she asked pointedly, settling on amused. ] Otherwise, it's just a rock. Sure, some people like them as pets, but I've always liked a little more excitement in my life.
[ Sarcasm, of course. She could do with a little less excitement these days, but Hades isn't about to let her go. No, she's still stuck in his slimy little claws for a good few years more. ]
Oh, a prince. Aren't you the ambitious little tyke.
[ It's always a boy, isn't it? Megara knows the feeling all too well. She pities the girl. ]
I didn't think it'd take the first thought that was in my head, I didn't even say anything! I just didn't wanna hold onto it.
*Whatever this was, it wasn't her fault.*
He's supposed to be my meal ticket, to get me to a better life, but...
*It should be easy. Bewitch him, get the wand, free the villains. Make mother proud of her... Mal wasn't exactly good at hiding all these emotions, she's not used to having all these emotions.*
Then maybe you should have thrown it out. Ever think of that?
[ Either way, it’s no skin off her back. What mattered was that regardless of how she’d gotten here, the girl was still here. And in desperate need of a therapy session, from the looks of it.
Meg rolled her eyes, settling comfortably on a nearby boulder. ]
I’m going to give you a piece of advice, [ she said, running her fingers through her hair. ] Don’t fall for it. Men have this attitude where everything is about them, no matter what. Oh, they’ll make it feel like it’s all about you. It feels amazing at first, spending time with him, going to dinner, watching the chariot races…
But the second you fall for him... [ She snapped her fingers, the sound loud in the relative silence around them. ] They turn their back on you and leave. Trust me, kid, you’re better off without him.
[ Her voice, once biting and bitter, grew soft in the space of a single breath. ] No man is worth the trouble.
*That's basically what happened, it's not exactly a lie. She didn't expect it to do this. She crossed her arms and listened, her mother hadn't exactly discussed boys with her. This was the first real talk about the subject she's gotten. There was one problem.*
But he isn't- he's nice even to people that aren't me, and he doesn't need to be. I don't understand why he doesn't, he could be just as cruel as his ex-girlfriend. He's going to be King, I don't understand why he plays so nice.
*And she hesitates, because she isn't even sure she's capable of it. She's sure just thinking about it her mother would disown her. But... this is suppose to help.*
And what do I do if I've already fallen for him..?
And the river gods took pity on you and sent you here to talk to me, [ Meg finished, sarcastic. ] Is that it?
[ She gave an unladylike snort, tching at the girl’s naivete. But she supposed she couldn’t be too hard on her. After all, hadn’t Meg once been in this position herself? The poor thing was already too far gone, or so it seemed. ]
That’s how they always are. It’s an act, [ Meg told her flatly, slicing her hand through the air. Then her expression softened, eyes filled with sympathy. ] If you don’t want to get hurt, it’s better for you to get away from him. The sooner the better.

*Sure she was a dark fairy dragon but magic was new to her. Especially magic that worked and was super literal.*
Now to figure out how being here will help me with a stupid doe-eyed prince...
