[ Today's an off day. The morning flight is over, and there's no training while the riders do their own thing in their buildings. Toothless is wandering the town in boredom, looking for something interesting to occupy his time. ]
[The more he looks around, the more disappointed Kai gets. He thought it was going to be fun here, but it's just a bunch of grown-ups doing grown up things and-
Wait a minute. Was that a-
Kai freezes, staring at the...dragon not too far away. A real live dragon, just like in the stories his mom tells him! Not even pausing to consider that it might be dangerous, Kai dashes over, intent on just tackling it.]
[ Toothless is completely unaware of the child until it tackles him, making him stumble. Pausing, he looks down and blinks in confusion when he sees the kid hanging onto him, and stares. Aren't most people in Berk used to him and the other dragons by now? ]
[Most people in Berk, sure, but the little silver-haired kid isn't from here. Not even close. So sorry there Toothless, he'll just be hanging onto you for several seconds before he finds the willpower to pull himself away...at least a few feet.]
Wow. You're a real, honest to goodness dragon.
[This is officially the best day in his short life. Kai holds out a hand for him to sniff, as if he suddenly remembered something close to manners.]

Toothless isn't used to kids, unless you count Hiccup. The rider is a lot older than this one, though, and that makes a difference. And unfortunately, Toothless is not a dragon from Kai's stories, so talking isn't an option. Instead, he tries to tries to smile, without teeth, and hopefully Kai will get his name from that. ]
